BACKGROUND:
Australian Maritime Technologies is a member of the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP). When the Department of Defence issued new cyber security requirements, AMT audited its network security to determine whether it could meet those new standards. CDM developed a security solution utilising world class leading cybersecurity technology from Fortinet. A comprehensive security fabric solution utilising FortiGate Next Generation Firewalls with Unified Threat Management (UTM) was created. This was combined with email security (FortiEmail & FortiGuard) and a network security, analysis, logging, and information solution (FortiAnalyser & FortiSIEM).
CHALLENGE:
AMT works with people in many differing geographical locations. So, it needed a solution that would allow them to access the data they required and only that data.
SOLUTION:
CDM designed a remote access system that included multi-factor authentication using FortiAuthenticator and FortiToken, physical access tokens that provide one-time passwords, and security and malware protection for personal devices using FortiClient. AMT’s IT department is small, meaning a single staff member needed to be familiar with multiple systems in order to keep systems running efficiently. “One thing we really liked about the Fortinet solution was the ‘single pane of glass’. Being able to log in and see everything on one screen makes it a lot easier for our IT people.
