CDM upgrades communication networks for Queensland police and corrective services.

BACKGROUND
The Queensland Police and Corrective Services required a technology upgrade which ensured their triple 0 and additional lines of communication remained open and running smoothly at all times. This mass-scale project needed to modernise equipment across 650 police stations, courts and correctional centres, 5 data centres and 39 metropolitan network sites. The existing infrastructure was 8 years old and approaching the end of its service life.

CHALLENGE
CDM was challenged with providing a solution that was largely flexible, scalable and adaptable to fluctuating call volumes and communication needs on a mass scale. The solution also needed to reliable to ensure all triple 0 calls are answered without the risk of system downtime or jammed lines. Additional challenges were present in providing a solution that couldn’t accommodate for system downtime while new infrastructure was introduced.

SOLUTION
The entire communication network across Queensland Police and Corrective Services were successfully upgraded. Initially, CDM conducted a testing phase to check technological suitability for the PSNMC’s traffic and interoperability with existing Public Safety Network technology and services. Due to the vastness of the project, CDM developed a mobile app to collect and collate data from each site as well as manage the rollout. CDM’s meticulous planning and project management, coupled with Juniper’s state of the art technology meant there was no downtime to triple 0 communication services throughout the year-long rollout.
