BACKGROUND:
Brighton Homes Arena, the new heart of the Brisbane Lions, combines cutting-edge technology with community-focused design. As the AFLW team’s first purpose-built home in Australia, the venue hosts up to 10,000 spectators, offering elite training, game-day excitement, and year-round community access. Half the arena is dedicated to public use, featuring meeting spaces, a café, parkland, a gym, and a wellness centre. Designed to set a new benchmark for sporting arenas, it integrates advanced technology to enhance the experience for players, fans, and staff.
CHALLENGE:
Delivering seamless connectivity in a high-traffic sports arena required a robust, high-performance network. With thousands of spectators relying on uninterrupted Wi-Fi during events, the system needed to support secure, high-density access across multiple devices. Beyond enhancing the fan experience, the network also had to optimise player performance and team operations, providing 580 athletes with flexible access to training resources, performance data, and video analysis. As both a world-class sports facility and a community hub, the challenge was to build a network that could adapt to diverse and evolving demands.
SOLUTION:
CDM delivered a high-performance network solution for Brighton Homes Arena, ensuring seamless connectivity across the venue. The deployment included 31 network switches, nine COMM locations, and support for 1,500 wired devices. With 68 access points, fans enjoy uninterrupted Wi-Fi for streaming, real-time stats, and exclusive content via the Brisbane Lions’ app. The network also enhances player performance, providing 580 athletes with flexible access to training resources, performance data, and video analysis. CDM’s secure, segmented access safeguards critical team information, while centralized cloud management enables advanced analytics, reporting, and future expansion to support the Lions’ long-term growth.
